This new volume of the book series Epigenetics and Human Health is dedicated to microRNAs (miRNAS), regulatory non-coding RNAs that have important roles in the control of gene expression both at posttranscriptional and transcriptional levels.

Endogenous miRNAs regulate gene expression patterns in a sequence-specific manner. These short sequences may serve as potential therapeutic targets in the treatment of complex diseases including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, neurocognitive disorders, respiratory diseases and pathogenic infections. Moreover, miRNAs hold promise to be used as extensive diagnostic and prognostic markers of disease.

?miRNAs, Human Health and Disease is an essential reading for graduate and undergraduate students, researchers, and academics interested in the latest developments on non-coding RNA-mediated pathways associated with health and disease.

Über den Autor Luis M. (Hrsg.) Vaschetto

Luis María Vaschetto obtained his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina). He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET) and a Research Associate at the South Dakota State University (SDSU). He has first-authored over ten academic articles in peer-reviewed, high-impact journals. Currently, he is a Consultant for several international companies and a Research Scholar at the Ronin Institute (RIIS 2.0). He also serves as Series Editor for the Book Series Epigenetics and Human Health (EHH), published by Springer Nature (Switzerland). Dr. Vaschetto has already edited and authored eleven international books, including four for the EHH series and three for Methods in Molecular Biology (MiMB, Springer Nature, USA). His research mainly focuses on understanding gene regulation mechanisms involved in plant and animal development, as well as their effects on human health and diseases Sameer Srivastava obtained his PhD in Biotechnology from CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, (India). He was awarded prestigious Endeavour Award (Govt. of Australia) to pursue his postdoctoral studies at Lowy Cancer Research Center, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Currently he is working as Associate Professor at Department of Biotechnology, Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad, India. He has authored more than 50 research articles in various reputed international journals and also published numerous book chapters. He also has handled various government funded project in India including, DBT, India, DST, India, ICMR, India. His research mainly focuses on understanding the epigenetic mechanisms involved in colorectal cancer development and progression. Another area of research which interests him is identifying genetic and epigenetic biomarkers in early onset-CRCs.
