Über den Autor W.E.B. Du Bois

En 1868, W.E.B. Du Bois (William Edward Burghardt Du Bois, pronunciado 'doo-boyz') nació en Massachusetts. Asistió a Fisk College en Nashville, luego obtuvo su licenciatura en 1890 y su maestría en 1891 en Harvard. Du Bois estudió en la Universidad de Berlín, luego obtuvo su doctorado en historia de Harvard en 1894. Enseñó economía e historia en la Universidad de Atlanta desde 1897-1910. The Souls of Black Folk (1903) se hizo un nombre, en el que instó a los estadounidenses negros a defender sus derechos educativos y económicos. Du Bois fue uno de los fundadores de la Asociación Nacional para el Avance de las Personas de Color, y editó el periódico oficial de la NAACP, "Crisis", de 1910 a 1934. Du Bois convirtió "Crisis" en la principal revista literaria negra.
