Über den Autor Josephine Tey

Josephine Tey ist das Pseudonym der schottischen Autorin Elizabeth MacKintosh (1896-1952), die vor allem für ihre Kriminalromane bekannt geworden ist. Mit dem Schreiben begann sie, nachdem sie ihre Arbeit als Sportlehrerin aufgeben musste, um ihre Mutter zu pflegen, die an Krebs erkrankt war. Nach deren Tod kümmerte sich Tey um den Vater und blieb auch danach in ihrem Elternhaus wohnen. Tey lebte sehr zurückgezogen, mied Interviews und öffentliche Auftritte. Sie starb im Alter von 55 Jahren während einer Reise nach London. Ihr Roman Alibi für einen König wurde von der englischen Autorenvereinigung Crime Writers' Association zum besten Kriminalroman aller Zeiten gewählt und 1969 mit dem Grand prix de littérature policière ausgezeichnet.
