Farah Jasmine Griffin is University Professor at Columbia University. She is the author of numerous books including the award winning, Read Until You Understand: The Profound Wisdom of Black Life and Literature. A member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, she also has been the recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim and Mellon Foundations. She lives in New York.
