But as time goes on, Sam grows weary of standing by and watching as his friends and family suffer at the hands of racism in their own community. Sam beings to explore the Panthers with Stick, but soon he’s involved in something far more serious—and more dangerous—than he could have ever predicted. Sam is faced with a difficult decision. Will he follow his father or his brother? His mind or his heart? The rock or the river?

Über den Autor Kekla Magoon

Kekla Magoon wurde in Michigan geboren und lebte mit ihren Eltern einige Jahre in Kamerun, Westafrika, bevor die Familie nach Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA, zog. Sie studierte an der Northwestern University Geschichte mit dem Schwerpunkt auf der Geschichte Afrikas und des Nahen Ostens und am Vermont College of Fine Arts. Schon in der High School schrieb sie ihren ersten Roman. Bis sie allerdings eine Vollzeitautorin wurde, dauerte es ein wenig. Heute schreibt sie Romane und Sachbücher für junge Leser und wurde mit vielen Preisen ausgezeichnet u.a. erhielt sie den Margaret A. Edwards Award, den Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, den John Steptoe New Talent Award, drei Coretta Scott King Honors, den Walter Award Honor, einen NAACP Image Award und war Finalistin für den National Book Award. Magoon lebt und arbeitet in Vermont.
