The Practice of Divine Healing in the Local Church

"I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will guide him and FILL HIM WITH COMFORT, him and those who mourn with him." (Isaiah 57:18). This verse speaks of the healing that God desires to bring to His people in the form of comfort. God wants to heal His people from their inner suffering! We come to Christ in the condition the world has left us in: covered in sin but also wounded in our hearts. In the Bible, the word "healing" is rendered in several ways: health, peace, wholeness, happiness, prosperity, life, holiness, salvation, etc., and refers to every area of life-individual as well as communal, spiritual, and physical. "The Elder to Gaius, the beloved, whom I love in truth. Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and be in good health, just as your soul prospers." 1 John 3:1-2. The purpose of the divine healings performed by Jesus is to make people whole, so that society may be healed.
