Über den Autor Martha Gellhorn

MARTHA GELLHORN wurde am 8. November 1908 in St. Louis geboren. Sie studierte in Bryn Mawr, ging 1930 nach Paris. 1937 folgte sie Ernest Hemingway in den Spanischen Bürgerkrieg. Bis zum Ende des Kalten Krieges war sie bei jedem wichtigen internationalen Konflikt an vorderster Front dabei, um als Kriegsreporterin darüber zu berichten. Martha Gellhorn starb auf eigenen Wunsch am 15. Februar 1998 im Alter von 90 Jahren in London. Seit ein paar Jahren haben wir es uns zur Aufgabe gemacht, Ausgewählte Werke Martha Gellhorns neu oder erstmals auf Deutsch vorzulegen. Martha Gellhorn: Paare - Ein Reigen in vier Novellen (2007) und Muntere Geschichten für müde Menschen (2008). Zu ihrem hundertsten Geburtstag am 8. November 2008 erschien der dritte Novellenband Das Wetter in Afrika und 2009 ihre Ausgewählten Briefemit einem Nachwort von Sigrid Löffler. Alle vier Bände wurden von Miriam Mandelkow ins Deutsche übersetzt. Im Februar 2011 wurde Reisen mit mir und einem Anderen - Fünf Höllenfahrten (2011) veröffentlicht, ebenfalls mit einem Nachwort von Sigrid Löffler. Zuletzt erschien 2012 Das Gesicht des Krieges. Reportagen 1937-1987, übersetzt ins Deutsche von Hans-Ulrich Möhring.HANS-ULRICH MÖHRING, geboren 1953, hat so unterschiedliche Autoren wie Zora Neale Hurston, J.R.R. Tolkien, James Hamilton-Paterson und William Blake übersetzt. 2008 erschien sein Roman Vom Schweigen meines Übersetzers bei Pendo.
