The Child That Went With The Fairies (eBook)

Deep in the Irish countryside, a mother's child disappears along a lonely road one evening - and returns, hours later, changed in ways the whole village can sense but nobody can quite name. What he saw, and what took him, becomes a story told in whispers for generations after.Sheridan Le Fanu draws directly on Irish folk belief for this shorter, eerier piece - fairy legend treated not as whimsy but as something genuinely dangerous. A quietly unsettling addition to his catalogue of tales where the old superstitions turn out to be entirely correct.
