The 2024th edition of Robotics in Education is based on the 15th Conference on Robotics in Education (RiE2024) mirroring experts' knowledge from all over the world. It includes and summarizes all accepted papers from an interdisciplinary community, which met traditionally at the annual Robotics in Education conference making it a valuable resource for educators, researchers, scientists and engineers. Without losing the focus on educational robotics, the topics have been carefully expanded this year. Therefore, the contributions ranges from theory to practice and from primary schools to university labs while the content covers experience reports from out of school programs to didactic-methodological approaches in teacher training and artificial intelligence to human robotics interaction. Also new robot designs, robot competitions and aspects of maker spaces were considered. The anniversary edition of the conference took place from 10.-12. April 2024 at the University of Koblenz in Germany.

Über den Autor Richard (Hrsg.) Balogh

Nikolaos Fachantidis is a professor in the Department of Educational and Social Policy at the University of Macedonia, where he specializes in Robotics Technologies in Education and Lifelong Learning. He also serves as the scientific head of the Robotics Academy at the University of Macedonia and is the director of the M.Sc. program "Educational Sciences: Applications of Information and Communication Technologies in Education and Lifelong Learning." His research interests are centered on the use of Information and Communication Technologies in learning, the development and evaluation of educational software, and the application of new technologies in continuing and informal education, with a particular focus on Educational Robotics and Social Robotics. David Obdrzálek is an assistant professor at Charles University in Prague, affiliated with the Department of Theoretical Computer Science and Mathematical Logic within the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics. His research interests primarily revolve around robotics, encompassing various aspects such as kinematic and dynamic models, control systems, localization, mapping, and planning. He is also involved in the development and teaching of courses on microcontroller programming, middleware for robotics (including ROS), and mobile robotics. Since 2004, he has been the head of the Czech Robotic Day, a significant robotics event. He also has a strong focus on educational robotics, co-editing and contributing to numerous publications in this area. Richard Balogh is an assistant professor at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, specifically affiliated with the Department of Automotive Mechatronics and previously with the Institute of Control and Industrial Informatics. He holds a Ph.D. in automation and control. His research interests include robotics, with a focus on robotics sensors and their use in education. He is also a founder of Istrobot, a prominent Slovak robotics competition, and his teaching activities encompass embedded systems programming and smart sensor design for industrial applications.
