His research area includes modelling, monitoring, and control of precision machining, and additive manufacturing processes and systems. He supervised more than 80 post-doctoral studies, Ph.D. dissertations, and M.S. theses. His published more than 600 archival articles, 5 books, and 40+ international conference keynotes. Dr. Liang has served as President of NAMRI/SME, Chair of MED/ASME, and Corporation President of a publicly traded company of USD 6B revenue with global footprints and is presently Technical Editor of International Journal of Precision Engineering and Manufacturing and Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing.
