The quest for the Moonstones continues, and Marek and the children travel to Nol-Tajerus to confront the Triumvirate. Hoping to coax the Triad into opening the map cube which might disclose the location of the jewels, Marek is unexpectedly forced into a bargain which could derail the quest and compromise his future.

As the expedition teeters on failure, the party is broken apart, sending the children onto separate paths, which will test each of them in unique ways. As they struggle for survival, they discover new truths about themselves, as well as how their futures are inexplicably linked to the Amog-Korgon.
