This Book presents the different soft computing techniques (GA, PSO and BF-PSO) to decide optimal size and location of DG to achieve different objectives for which multi-objective function based optimization algorithm is used for optimal planning of DG. The multi-objective function includes several system indices, which decide the performances of the overall system. This work reports the optimal installation of single and multi-DG both in different distribution test systems. Several performance evaluation indices such as Total Generation Cost Index (CTI), Active Power Loss Index (PLI), Reactive Power Loss Index (QLI), Voltage profile or Deviation Index (VDI), Load Balancing Index (LBI), Reliability Index (RI) and Sensitivity factor or shift factor (SFI) or power transfer distribution factor (PTDF) indexes are introduced with different multi-objective functions. This methodology is implemented on 15-bus radial system, 33-bus radial system, 30-bus mesh system, 54-bus practical radial distribution system and 69-bus radial test systems considering different load models.
