I Just Want to Be Me, lela's adventures on Her Way to a New school is a 34 page, poetically written, picture book, about a young girl who faces a new chapter in her life. Her family has moved to a new neighborhood, and she will attend her first day at a new school.

Escapism and angst take over as Lela walks alone down a magical path to school. On the way to her new school she morphs into what she thinks she would rather be, from a tree to the sun, a tiger, and then a bird, only to discover that what looks better for the moment is not for her. In the final analysis, she comes to grips with who she is and who she would rather be.

The book is bautifully illustrated by Penny Weber recipient of the Mom's Choice and Readers Favorite Five Stars awards.
