J.K. ROWLING ist die Autorin der unglaublich beliebten Buchreihe Harry Potter. Nachdem ihr 1990 auf einer verspäteten Zugfahrt die Idee für Harry Potter gekommen war, begann die Autorin sofort mit dem Entwurf der Handlung. Das erste der siebenbändigen Buchreihe, Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen, wurde 1997 in Großbritannien veröffentlicht. Es dauerte weitere zehn Jahre, bis sie auch das letzte Buch geschrieben hatte, das 2007 veröffentlicht wurde: Harry Potter und die Heiligtümer des Todes. Die Harry-Potter-Bücher wurden inzwischen über 600 Millionen Mal verkauft und in 85 Sprachen übersetzt, über eine Milliarde Mal als Audiobücher gehört und zu acht Kinohits verfilmt. Um die Serie abzurunden, schrieb J.K. Rowling drei kurze Begleitbände: Quidditch im Wandel der Zeiten, Phantastische Tierwesen und wo sie zu finden sind, and Die Märchen von Beedle dem Barden, um ihre internationalen Stiftung für das Wohlergehen der Kinder, Lumos, zu unterstützen.
