Ginger Cat in B & W remembers the fourteen-year life of one cat, Rudy, from kittenhood onward. Complementing the memoir's text, we see Rudy in thirty-nine black-and-white photographs selected from those taken during his life.

This is Rudy's life for the duration and the end-of-life chapters are for any reader who has, has had, or contemplates having a feline companion. With few exceptions, cats die before their human companions. Nonetheless, the epilogue is both unexpected and uplifting. The spirit of Rudy speaks to the us, the readers. He reveals several details that only he would know or the author failed to mention.

With Ginger Cat in B & W, we're invited to believe the mute sentient being called Rudy has spoken to us. Then, with a willingness to believe, the reader might accept Rudy's soul and ask, Why not?
