From the Inside Out

At its core, this exhibition celebrates Towson University's extensive historical clothing and costume collection, the only one of its kind in the University System Maryland and a hidden Baltimore County gem. Featuring clothing that dates from the late-eighteenth century to the early nineteen twenties, the show provides a behind the scenes view of the bodies we so often see in historical photographs, films, and artwork. From the most private of undergarments and hidden "tricks of the trade" to the outfits themselves and the accompanying outerwear, we answer the question, "How DID they wear that?"
