In 2172, Los Angeles has become a better place-the air's cleaner, the city greener but, unfortunately for Alexandra Addington, bad guys still exist. Alex has helped invent a data network device that will let humanity communicate outside the solar system. Hopefully, it will also rescue a human colony based on the planet Farout that's been damaged by a rogue asteroid.

A radical group, however, doesn't want humanity to leave the neighborhood. While its extremists aren't aware Alex helped create the network device, they suspect she's connected to the project.

Erik Wolfe, her next-door neighbor and soon to be boss, doesn't know she helped create the device either, but he thinks she's hiding something. As CEO of the leading space firm Xtra and the new co-owner of the exclusive Hotel Bel-Air, Erik doesn't have time for mysteries, much less the crazy chemistry sparking between him and Alex. He just wants his hotel open, the new deep-space network to work, and the colony saved.
