This book describes the most important issues of the Second Republic's foreign policy in a succinct yet captivating way and provides insight into diplomatic practice. The authors have written this book based on many years of experience in the diplomatic service. They do not just direct their gaze into the past but also into the present and future of Austria's foreign policy. Above all they take into account the fundamental changes that took place at the beginning of the 21st century - changes that have brought totally new challenges for Austria.

Über den Autor Franz Cede

Franz Cede, 1945 geboren, ist Diplomat und Rechtswissenschaftler. Er promovierte an der Universität Innsbruck, wo er anschließend als Universitätsassistent am Institut für Politikwissenschaft und Öffentliches Recht tätig war. Nachdem er 1972 in den Staatsdienst des österreichischen Außenministeriums eintrat, war er im Völkerrechtsbüro, in Paris, Rabat/Marokko, Kinshasa/Kongo sowie in Los Angeles tätig. Von 1999 bis 2003 war er österreichischer Botschafter in der Russischen Föderation und von 2003 bis 2007 österreichischer Botschafter im Königreich Belgien und bei der NATO. Seit 2007 betätigt sich Franz Cede als Senior Advisor am Austria Institut für Europa- und Sicherheitspolitik (AIES). Ralph Janik, 1985 geboren, promovierte in Rechtswissenschaften/internationalem Recht und ist Assistenzprofessor an der Sigmund Freud PrivatUniversität, Lehrbeauftragter an der Universität Wien, der Andrassy Universität in Budapest und der Universität der Bundeswehr in München. Er betätigt sich als Mitglied der European Society of International Law, der Ars Iuris Vienna, dem Advisory Board des International Institute for Peace, dem Strategie- und Sicherheitspolitischen Beirats im Bundesministerium für Landesverteidigung sowie als Affiliated Researcher am Österreichischen Institut für Internationale Politik. Er bloggt, spricht in seinem Podcast über aktuelle politische Themen und tritt als Science Slammer in Erscheinung.
